# Template 5

***Stage two report***

## Who this template is for and what it covers

This template is for initial teacher education (ITE) providers and accreditation panels (panels) to use along with the *Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia: Guidelines* (Guidelines).

Program applications for Stage two accreditation must include this completed template.

This template helps providers present evidence clearly and concisely, so that panels can assess Stage two applications more easily.

The *Stage two report* also helps providers:
- collect data and evidence that align with National Program Standard 5
- identify areas of strength, program changes, innovations, periodic formal evaluations and planned improvements based on evidence collected during the accreditation period
- provide a detailed report on the outcomes from the *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4) from the previous accreditation period
- explore other unexpected challenges and opportunities.

The *Stage two report* helps panels:
- assess the evidence against National Program Standard 5.2 using the elements needing verification and professional judgement
- make professional judgements about identified strengths, program changes, innovations and planned improvements given the evaluation of impact statements.

Providers and panels use the *Stage two report* for Stage two accreditation.

Providers compare their evidence with the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4) to: - identify the program's strengths - highlight areas for improvement - identify any gaps in achieving the required program outcomes. The report covers the previous accreditation period and impact statements. Panellists assess the report using the elements requiring verification and professional judgement for National Program Standard 5.2. |

## How to complete this template

Providers must include the mandatory evidence listed in National Program Standard 5 in the *Plan for demonstrating impact*.

## 5 Program outcomes and Reporting

## 5.2 Evidence of program outcomes and impact

Evidence of program outcomes, including impact, is provided, evaluated and interpreted at the end of each accreditation period.

The interpretation of evidence includes identified strengths, program changes and planned improvements for the next accreditation period.

The evidence requirements include, at a minimum, aggregated data on:

a. assessment data from the teaching performance assessment for all pre-service teachers-

b. data from the nationally consistent, transparent indicators

c. any other pre-service teacher performance and impact data as identified in the *Plan for Demonstrating Impact*.

The template has 5 sections:

| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Context, which describes the provider’s approach to collecting, analysing and using data as outlined in National Program Standard 1.1. | Data framework table, which captures the data sources providers use to show impact. | Further considerations, which explains the extra information providers can include in the Stage two report not covered under the program impact statements. | Conclusion, which summarises the application. | Appendix: Program rationale from the previous accreditation period. |

# Context

This section needs to give the panel enough information about the program’s performance during the accreditation period to make an informed decision.

This section must include:
- total number of pre-service teachers specified in the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4)
- overview of changes
- factors not included in the Context section of the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4) – for example, institutional or regulatory influences, government priorities, systemic influences.

This section can include:
- graphs and tables to visually represent the information
- references to the Context section of the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4), but do not repeat this information
- references to the program rationale from the previous accreditation period.

*Provide a description*

# Data framework table

The data framework table from the previous accreditation application captures the data sources that providers:
- collected, analysed and reported on, against each of the impact statements
- aggregated to allow panels to judge whether providers achieved the intended impacts
- updated to include findings and a discussion of these findings.

For the *Stage two report* the following sections of the data framework table apply:

| **Section** | **General description** |
| --- | --- |
| Impact statements | This section lists the impact statements of the data framework table in the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4). |
| • Data sources - Data aggregation - Data analysis - Quality assurance - Reporting timeline | These columns align with those of the data framework table in the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4). These columns describe the processes for reviewing the program, including how providers collected data and what the quality assurance process is. |
| Findings | This section and the discussion section are the focus of the *Stage two report*. This section aligns with the data analysis column of the data framework table in the previous *Plan for demonstrating impact* (Template 4). Findings must include: - evidence of outcomes of the impact statements from the previous plan - analyses from the analysis column of the data framework table in the previous plan - an outline of any program changes, innovations and planned improvements based on the evidence - reference the corresponding changes made in the *National Program Standards matrix* (Template 2) and the *Teacher Standards (Graduate Level) matrix* (Template 3). |
| Discussion | This section highlights any: |

- implications for future program delivery
- areas for improvement (including continuous improvement)
- innovations
- possible future directions to target areas needing attention within the program.
